Digging in the dirt at lake crabtree
who knew trail work could be so fun?
I usually have the best intentions of trying to make it to trail work days, but I end up only doing it a few times a year. On the weekends I try to spend time with the family - Caroline is extremely accommodating of my bike riding habit/addiction, but leaving her with 3 kids while I go work on trails doesn’t happen very often.
But then it hit me. Hey, the kids love digging in the dirt, moving rocks, hammering things. I should take them with me! It didn’t take much convincing.
So today Nate, Jake, and I joined the crew doing trail work at Lake Crabtree. On tap for the day: some trail rerouting, some bench cuts, and building a few bermed turns.

Work is done and it’s time to hit the trails. They love the skinny and teeter totter.

Totally unprompted, Jake even said "Daddy this is more fun than I thought it would be!". That’s all for now - until they get to go dig and hammer in the woods again …
